The Lusitania was a British ocean liner that was sunk on May 7, 1915 by a German U-boat off the southern coast of Ireland; 1,198 passengers and crew died. The Cunard Line launched Lusitania in 1906. Einer Nielsen was born on February 14, 1897 in Henne, Denmark to Sern Christian Brun and Anna Nielsen. Einer's parents were farmers, raising some grain and potatoes, and Sern also worked part-time for a house-builder.
